Editorial & affiliate disclosure
How we make money — and how we don't.
Affiliate links
Many links on AI Tool Testing are affiliate links. If you buy a subscription or product through one, we may earn a small commission from the vendor (Jasper, Copy.ai, Notion, Cursor, ClickUp, Surfer SEO, ElevenLabs, and similar) at no additional cost to you. As an Amazon Associate, we also earn from qualifying purchases of books and hardware we recommend.
Affiliate commissions fund our subscription budget — testing AI tools properly requires paying for the paid tiers of every product we review, which adds up fast. The affiliate relationship does not influence which product wins a category.
What we don't accept
- Paid placement in "best of" guides.
- Paid favorable reviews.
- "Sponsored" content of any kind disguised as editorial.
- Vendor veto over what we publish.
- Free product subscriptions in exchange for coverage. We pay for what we test.
How we pick winners
Every "Best X" pick is based on hands-on testing using paid subscriptions on real work — actual writing tasks, actual coding tasks, actual production workflows. We document what we ran. When a tool wins a category, we describe specifically what it does better than the competition. When a tool loses, we describe specifically how it failed.
Updates and corrections
AI tools ship breaking changes frequently. Every guide shows its last-tested date. When a tool drops a major update, we retest before the recommendation moves. If we get something wrong, we correct it in place and note the correction.
